The Foundation Classes require teacher approval, this assures that the student is well established in proper alignment so focus can be shifted from attaining proper alignment to maintaining alignment while focusing inward on bodily sensation and the movement of prana. Foundation classes revolve around stilling the wandering mind during the active portion of the posture, fully integrating released energy during the passive portion of the posture and moving into the practice of meditation in motion. Foundation classes require greater discipline from the student and, in return, provide greater benefits to the body and mind.
Core Concepts:
- Alignment
- Anchoring the mind to bodily sensation and breath
- Enter more deeply into the second half of the postures
- Relaxation versus force
- Meditative awareness
- Third Eye, unity versus duality
- Introduction to chanting (participation optional)
